Pinch your day away -create tea bowls, vases, planters, or come with a special project in mind. This class will work through hand building design challenges and discuss glaze and surface treatment ideas. Students will have a chance to pinch out several small works or a slightly larger piece.

The studio will line the pieces with clear glaze and high fire the items. Works will be available for pick-up approximately two weeks after the workshop.

Course Description

From clasps and jump rings to knobs and pulls, high temperature wire is being incorporated into ceramics as a structural and expressive element that accomplishes things that clay alone cannot. Learn about the types and sources of wire that are suitable for inclusion. As well as the construction methods that will be most likely to succeed as these disparate materials are brought together. Students will have opportunity to complete a small scale sampler and get feedback from the instructor on design concepts and ideas for future works.
